We happened upon this garden after seeing on a sign at the nearby lighthouse. It ended up being a highlight of our trip. The garden unfolds naturally in an easy circle that was about 2 miles if you walk all the side trails. Very unusual...More

We love to explore the crater later in the day when the garden is in shadow. The cactus part is our favorite! It's fun for the kids to walk around and explore and looks different depending on the time of year. And it's great that...More

I love visiting the Koko Crater Botanical Garden. It is located near a golf community in East Oahu at the far end of Hawaii Kai near Sandy Beach. There is nothing fancy about the garden -, no docents, one porto-potty and a security guard. Parking...More

I agree that it could use some TLC, but kids don't care. They love the unusual cacti and how we are walking inside a volcano crater. Sneakers are a must. We came from snorkeling Hanamua Bay and weren't properly shoe attired. Feet were hurting.

Could be a great garden if it were given some TLC. I would only recommend it to avid botanists. Was difficult to get to by bus, so drive if you can. Amenities consisted of a horrible port-a-loo, in need of attention. Be prepared for some...More
