This reserve is well maintained without a lot of over sculpting. You get the feel of being in an uncultivated forest without needing a machete (great movie). Free

What a wonderful visit this was for my family of 4. We had almost too much noise, sun and crowds so my son who love botany asked to go see the arboretum having seen it on our hike up the Manoa falls the day previous....More

The Arboretum is well worth a visit if you enjoy tropical gardens and hiking. We hiked up to the waterfall, and despite the rain becoming heavier as we got closer, the falls were essentially dry. The plants and tropical flowers are beautiful and the backdrop...More

We went here for the two small girls, ages 6 and 8, so we could go on a hike at their level. Stick to the main trail and it's easygoing. Maybe 15 minutes to the waterfall, which was a gentle trickle the day we went....More

Spectacular grounds and a jaw-dropping selection of tropical plants, spread of several acres in the back of Manoa Valley. If you're a plant lover this is a must see. Nice trails around the property, and never ever crowded. Spectacular.

We toured the arboretum with a wonderful guide, Ursula. The tour was informative as well as fun. Ursula provided the background of the arboretum and the local ecology, explaining the how and why of important decisions. We strongly recommend booking a tour through the arboretum.

A nice trip exploring the gardens, bring good walking shoes ( not flip flops ) and some water. Way less crowded than Manoa Falls next door. We took the bus there from Waikiki and it was a great day trip.

We also did not see any animals but could hear the birds. There is extensive ground maintenance going on to clear out overgrowth. There is someone at the bookshop who could probably answer you question. The day we were there... More
