This beach has a narrow strip of white sand and provides sheltered swimming in a reef-protected bay. It seems to be populated more by locals than the beaches to the southeast in Waikiki. There is parking on the street and in a lot across the road, but be careful because many of the street sites are reserved for emergency vehicles and you will get a ticket if you park there. We initially parked in the lot to the west of the beach, but it didn't feel too safe.

Closest park from Waikiki, across from Ala Moana Centre. Lots of newly wed Japanese taking photos there. Lots of homeless there, bathrooms not that clean.

Easy walk from our hotel. Walked along the sea and saw the boats, people fishing, fish such as Angel fish, water sports and swimming. Lots of people use the park for picnics and wedding photos. There is a lagoon and beach for swimming with lifeguards. We swam in the lagoon. Super safe. Great views. Lots of trees in the park to escape the heat.

This is a perfect beach for swimming or sunbathing. Beautiful views and clear water make this a must visit when in Waikiki!

Visited in the afternoon after markets for a cold swim. Found a car park after one drive around though parking is limited. The locals go here and set up fir the day. It has restrooms and changing area, food place. The water is beautiful and cool, sand is gorgeous though very limited shade. Loved our visit ! Definitely worth the visit, much quieter than Waikiki beach !

I travelled to Oahu with myinflatable paddleboard. I drove all around the island to try different places to paddle. Ala Moana Beach Park was by far my favorite. the area is protected from the waves so the waters are very calm and filled with sea turtles. The paddling area is extensive and spacious so you can get a really good workout in or just relax and float without worrying about running into others. Parking is challenging so you'll want to get there in the arly morning.

Want to know where the islanders go on the weekend? This is one of them. Huge families, barbecues and kids. I really liked being there for the vibe. The beach is big, easy to get to (bus) and easy to find a spot. Lots of shade as well. You are close to Ala Moana shopping center so pick up food to go (try Woodland Farms Poke, bowls, salads or Karaage or huge food court.) Gentle slope into water so you can dip, swim or even boogie board out further.

Nice, quieter beach a little further away from the busyness of Waikiki. A short and pleasant walk from the centre of town. The sand in some areas is a bit rockier. It's close to magic lagoon which is very nice and good for swimming and paddleboarding. A longer beach as well so it's not as crowded. Another bonus is it is right in front of Ala Moana centre for food and shopping! Parking isn't an issue, lots available.
