Went for a swim once here while on vacation. Even the locals talk about how bad the water quality is with all the hotels. Not the best place to swim. I'd consider Maui first.

Disappointed is the best definition for my feelings while getting to this very very famous beach all over the world. Many buildings taking the place where the beach used to be, nothing exiting or relevant there. Just another resort place.

Saturday has surfers in their hundreds out on the waves, a surfing competition as well, markets to look at and people everywhere. Find a seat and just take it all in.

Great views with plenty of shops, food, and other attractions near by. If you don't mind the crowd this is a great beach to go to. It was my first time swimming in the ocean and had a great time. Also very relaxing

It is a very welcoming beach although there are big crowds at times. You can hire a number of things to enjoy your visit including chairs and umbrellas, surf boards etc but for a price. There are also a number of beach bars/restaurants where you can...More

The main strip has lots of good shops and food options. Beach is lovely. Check out the farmers markets, the Moana Surfrider hotel and the new shopping mall.

The water is warm and clear. Like most popular tourist destinations it can become overcrowded but it's worth a dip or simply sit on the sand and watch the surfers, locals or other tourists.

When you think of a beach, you think of Waikiki and you would be correct. This is the perfect beach for swimming, lounging, watching or trying surfing or wake boarding or simply people watching. Lots of green grass and white sand. Not a lot of...More

I've been to Waikiki beach practically every summer since my early teens and I've never needed water/reef shoes. The sand isn't powder smooth, it feels a bit grainy, but it's not enough to cut/break skin. I've gone out... More
