My husband, young daughter and i visited here one Wednesday afternoon and throughly enjoyed it. The sculptures are really quite something and are positioned throughout the gardens. Part of the musuem was closed as they were in between exhibits so entry was free. The reflection pool and the intersecting triangles were particular favourites. There is a cafe and a shop.... More

Family Fun Day Once a Month...This was included in a FREE day at the HNL Museum of Art. So, why not :) There was comp. transportation to the Spalding House. 10 minutes later, we were there. This used to be a former residence...set on large property with views to the Pacific Ocean and Diamond Head...sadly, mostly blocked now by vegetation... More

I went to see the plastic exhibit which definitely exceeded my expectations. The one ounce interactive was powerful. The sculptures on the grounds I was able to get to were great. I found the cafe better than the Honolulu Museum itself where I ate earlier in the day and was left wanting. The gift shop is not to be missed.... More

This museum is located on a hill overlooking the city and Diamond Head. Exhibiting mostly contemporary art, it is part of the Honolulu Museum of Art (but in a different location). There is a family fun lounge for the kids as well as a nice cafe that includes outdoor seating. The gift shop is fun for those seeking something unique.... More

Totally enjoyed this sister museum to the Honolulu Museum of Art as it is located high above the city offering incredible views over Honolulu and Diamond Head. The property is nicely landscaped with a sculpture garden and a tennis court reworked into an art space of sorts. The current exhibition concerning plastic was very interesting and offered some fun hands... More

The exhibitions were very interesting (from American Pop Art exhibitions to Polynesian Art and other cultures). The house is amazing with a GREAT garden to walk through. The Cafe is very good too. We ate there before follow to Honolulu Museum and there were great options for a fair price.

Stumbled across this museum while searching for an art-o-mat. It's lovely little spot. The exhibits were well curated and intriguing and the staff were beyond helpful. The place has such a lovely peaceful feel, we wanted to just sit all afternoon. Highly reccomend a visit.

I visited the Honolulu Museum of Art Spalding House with my brother and father, who live nearby in Makiki. My brother works for Hawaiian Electric, a company that is a large supporter of arts and science education, and allowed us free admission to the Spalding House. The current exhibit focuses on the pros and cons of plastics, Plastic Fantastic?, with... More

We expected the Japanese gardens would be more Japanese themed but it was just a garden. A beautiful garden, but nothing special. They also had steep stairs and would be hard for older people to walk through. The museum itself was strange and not worth the price. We did eat at their restaurant and it was very good.
