To visit the amazing property called Shangri-la which was built by the heiress Doris Duke and houses her extensive cillection of Islamic Art you have to book a tour through the Museum. You then have to arrive at the Museum and board a small shittle bus there for access to the site because it is in a residential area and... More

Since I am an artist, art lover, and history buff, this museum trip was an excellent excursion. The exhibits included something new and something old, local art and historic art of Honolulu. The exhibits are always changing, so I check online to see what is happening before I head to Oahu on an annual excursion. I like to walk to... More

The selection of art here at the Honolulu Museum of art is impressive and the gallery is has an original layout. We did I the Doris Duke tour which I can highly recommend. The Cafe in the Gallery is supposed to be good but I could not comment as it was only open for such a short time we missed... More

One of many informative locations to learn about Hawaiian culture; interesting, informative, and a great starting point for learning about the diverse island populations of the Hawaiian islands.

I enjoy my visits. We all need art in its many forms. I love the opening receptions, a perk at certain membership level. The special movies with food is also fun.

I've been visiting the HMA for years and enjoy its art films in the Doris Duke Theater. However, the Museum, the Academy of Arts (across the street), its downtown gallery, and the Doris Duke home are all gems for both visitors and locals. The collection is extensive, beautifully displayed, and informative. Highlights include the vast South Asian and Pacific Island... More

Honolulu's Museum of Art is a gem, not only for it's wide array of art but for its uniquely Hawaiian art. I saw individual works from such well-known artists as Van Gogh, Gaugin, Monet, Picasso, O'Keefe, and Warhole. The collection includes Asian, African, and European art. The works are everything from paintings and sculptures to textiles and artifacts. Finally, there... More
