I loved this gallery. Not huge, but when we visited they had a wide variety of work on exhibition. The building is beautiful and I couldn't believe the lack of crowds, as everywhere else has been very busy. Lovely way to send a few hours and a nice shop as well.

Although we galloped through several galeries in this museum due to limited time, I would definitely visit again, plan to have lunch at their cafe, and shop in their museum gift shop. As our focus was on the art and culture of Polynesia, we enjoyed seeing some recently designed costumes as well as traditional tapa cloth, neck pieces worn by... More

The museum is a small gem with treasures from all over Asia in addition to Hawaiian and modern art. Had one of the best salads of my life there this week--seared salmon over extremely fresh greens--so good!!

The museum has artifacts and art from worldwide cultures and spans many historic time periods. They do a free Sunday once a month, and we happened to get there on the correct day. It is a nice spot to cool off from walking around outside. the collections are beautiful and go on forever. You could easily get lost in all... More

I loved walking around here looking at the art. I had the pleasure of viewing many unique pieces that have stayed with me in particular I liked a sculpture made from the hive of a honey bee unfortunelty I don't remember the artist name. The gift shop had some lovely stuff to take home too. Security guards where helpful with... More

Every time we go to Hawaii we go to the museum - always more to see and the exhibits about Hawaii are great - it’s a mixture of past and present with excellent examples of both - a treat!

This is an excellent capital city art museum. It has a fine permanent collection of world art: a bit of European and African, a lot of Asian, a nice section of contemporary art, and rotating temporary exhibits, including a venue for contemporary Hawaiian art and design.

Art and art history is my primary avocation. I expected to make a quick visit to the Museum, as I can't ever pass up an art museum, and make a quick departure. Wrong! We were surprised and delighted with the collection. Not the Louvre or my hometown Chicago Art Institute, but a wonderful afternoon in a fine collection. The cafe... More

I did this and the "Hawaii state art museum", were this actually was my second hand choice, but looking back at both visits this is clearly the better of the two. This art museum have a wide variety in collections/exhibitions and on the day of my visit even the admission was free! Quite a bargain and one of the better... More
