They have a great event on the last Friday of the month called Art After Dark. I really enjoyed going but I went once a month for a year so I feel like I've reached my max. Definitely recommend going.

This museum and it's grounds really surprised us. It's quite a nice museum with an eclectic mix of art that you might not expect.

Had looked forward to visiting and perhaps expected more from this museum especially in the local art section which was lacking. Otherwise, displays were nice and would recommend a visit. Found other museums that were smaller but more interesting as we toured the four major...More

We started our tour to shangri la from here. After the tour we had lunch here and the food was amazing.

There are not many rained out days in Honolulu, and I'm not much of a museum buff, but I was pleasantly surprised by the content of this museum, especially the Asian influence items. Highly recommended and I never thought I'd say that about a museum!

The museum itself is very nice. Do take the tour to Doris Duke's Shangri La--it is an amazing house and the tour guides are super nice.

Much larger and better quality art than I expected. A few hours here was not enough to see all that I wanted to see. The Pavillion restaurant on site is very good as well.

This museum is not small about 15 collection rooms and courtyards. There are always exhibishion as well. But depending on your schedule, 1 hour or 2 hours will be walking through all collection rooms.

I concur with the other two respondents, but would also add that there is paid parking at the Blaisdell Center across Thomas Square and metered parking adjacent to the museum and Linekona Center.

There's an office just behind the admissions desk where people leave packs and suitcases. The staff is very helpful.
