This is a lovely little zoo. It’s a bit disappointing it’s not open until 10am (earlier to avoid the heat would be nice). But there’s plenty of shade. The enclosures are a bit dated in places but you can see that they’re upgrading them over time to be more animal friendly. It’s a fun little morning or day out for the family and reasonably priced.

This zoo was beautiful! Clean. So green with all the trees and plants. Quite different than the Phx zoo. Spoke to a few employees who willing to take the time to talk to us about their zoo. It's a must.

Our first visit in 8 years and it’s looking the worse for wear. Desperately in need of maintenance, modernisation, injection of capital. In a number of cases there was only one animal on display.

Doesn’t compare well with other zoos ( large and small) that we’ve visited. Only the main kiosk / cafe is open.

$19 entry for adults.

It’s an easy walk around. We’ve always loved our visits but I doubt we’ll be back on our next visit to Waikiki.

Small zoo but a fun stop to see - nice break from the beach. Great exhibit of the endangered Nene geese - which we didn't see anywhere else on our trip. Plan to bring your own food; the concession stand had an unusual choice of food - not family/kid friendly.

dirty water in the exhibits. That's mostly it; dirty water everywhere. Everything seemed stale. My husband and I are seniors and were looking for a manageable morning. parts were very nice, but the dirty water and lack of cleaning in the exhibits made the morning seem very tiresome.

The general visit was good and really fun with something other than sunbathing and shopping however it wasn’t Amazing half of the enclosures where shut with hardly any animals there to see there is no staff around to help and you just walk through on your own. Some of the animals look neglected to be honest with the skin looking discoloured and general food and water for them wasn’t available it’s very well signposted but all in all I’d say save your money and go somewhere else

We were there around at noon to 2:30 on Friday. Not crowded at all. It is a small zoo but they have a tiger, giraffes, elephants, etc. very impressive! We were lucky to be there when hippos were fed with lettuce and apples. Unlike other reviews, most animals were relatively active compared to other zoo animals. Very well maintained. Peacocks are walking around freely along with chickens and other tiny birds near the food court and the play ground area. They have several open fields with lots of shades by the big Hawaiian trees. We didn’t do picnic but picnicking would be good there. Food price in food court was reasonable.

It’s not like other zoo’s. A lot of the animals are in hiding because of the heat. It’s a small zoo however when you purchase your ticket you can go in and out all that day as many times as you want. Had fun and glad to go to support the zoo.

We had a wonderful day visiting the Honolulu Zoo for the first time. We were very impressed with the wide variety of animals and birds and their amazing habitats. We especially loved all the interesting information along the way both about the animals and how it all effects the world climate and ecology. It is an amazing adventure for people of all ages.

We visited this zoo in June 2022. We were surprised how big it actual was. They have a wide variety of animals throughout the property. It was very clean and the animals and their enclosures looked well tended. It was a nice first day active as we started to explore the Waikiki area of Oahu.
