Many of Hawaii’s alii (royalty) lived in Waikiki and King Kalakaua selected a 300-acre track of land at the base of Diamond Head for a public park in 1867. Today, it is a gathering place that thrives with walkers, runners, tennis enthusiasts and picnickers. Grab lunch on Kalakaua Avenue and enjoy it in one of the shaded picnic areas scattered around this colorful park.

Always something going on in the park, lots and lots of grass, free tennis courts, across the street from the beach and down the hill from Diamond Head Crater. Just a lovely walk and mellow place to hang out. Also down this way, the zoo and the Aquarium. A great place for your morning or evening walk.

Nice park but it is usually crowded and it is difficult to find parking. A favorite of the residents in the area and tourists alike.

This park is the hearbeat of the Waikiki area. So serene and beautiful and yet always so much to see and do. It's great to people watch or just sit and read and nap!!

This was a real convenient little beach park. Good beach and swim area. Close to the zoo and resturants etc. There were some cute statues and great banyon trees.
