Many of Hawaii’s alii (royalty) lived in Waikiki and King Kalakaua selected a 300-acre track of land at the base of Diamond Head for a public park in 1867. Today, it is a gathering place that thrives with walkers, runners, tennis enthusiasts and picnickers. Grab lunch on Kalakaua Avenue and enjoy it in one of the shaded picnic areas scattered around this colorful park.

Every morning after having my continental breakfast at the hotel, I walked the park. On Weekends they have a lovely craft fair there.

Great park with beach on Waikiki. Sand, ocean, and grassy areas for sunbathing. If only there were more people understanding they are not the only ones using the park!

Beautiful sand and views, not crowded, definitely a must see. Could only stay a few minutes on our day tour, but went back for more.

A very nice green park with many giant banyan trees and open green space. We like to jog around the park as part of our workout. This park is full of people working out, playing soccer, football, exercising and just hangin' out in large groups,...More

Beautiful, clean, spacious park right in the middle of the city. Has few beaches where you can stop and swim.

We had a rugby carnival here and it was special - such a wonderful expanse of well kept and maintained parkland with so many facilities and just by the sea.

There are a lot of places you can ask about schedules of events. But the front desk of your hotel should have some of that information and they usually had booklets about the many different tours, etc.

You will find a few fish around here but nothing terribly exciting. If it's snorkeling you're after - sign up with a private tour (we used OPT) where local guides take you to the best snorkeling places around the island... More
