The views from the top were stunning. Best photos of the trip so far! We came on a very windy day and were very grateful for the breeze. I can't imagine doing the climb on a hotter day. Lots of people (many ages, abilities, fitness levels) were climbing.

We parked at the college to avoid paying a fee. The walk was probably 20 min all the way to the main Diamond Head parking area. The hike was somewhat intense specially I'd you opt to go through the stairs, highly recommended! You'll get tired but worth it. Once you make it to the top, the view will take your... More

Take a ride in to the crater and hike from there. Approximately 1.5 mile round trip hike. Take your time and it's very doable. The steps at the end will wind you but oh so worth it. Take a bottle of water with you, you can enjoy it at the top. The main part of the trail is uneven rock... More

Beautiful hike with excellent views. Definitely isn't as easy as it's made out to be. It took us, two average women, an hour and a half. It is worth the efford.

Suggest going as early as you can because of the heat and the crowds. Sturdy shoes. Water. Sunglasses. Sunscreen. Early on the hike are cans for throwaways. I found a partially finished coffee cup at the top where there are no trash cans. Steady stream of friendly people going up and down. Breathtaking views at the top. One lady pointed... More

Highly recommended for the easiest way to get the most amazing shots of the coastline! Requires a reasonable amount of fitness, although there is no rush to get to the top. Take water and your camera!

Awesome hike but it's definitely better to do early in the morning before the sun rises! Take a flashlight with you as well because you go through a tunnel which is very dark.

The views near the top are outstanding and worth the hike...which is not long but all uphill. Paths are pretty worn and rustic...if you're looking for a pre-paved path and stairs, this isn't it. Crowded at the top requiring a lot of jostling to get the best pics.

Dress comfortably and wear good shoes! It is quite a hike to the top and there are some really steep stairs. The views are well worth it and you will feel a sense of accomplishment when you have made it. There are plenty of places to step aside and rest on the way up if you need too...we did.

Diamond Head State Monument is a must see, if you're ever on Oahu. The hike is not for the faint of heart. My Aunt waited for us in the picnic area while we hiked to the top of the crater. We saw people of all ages hiking. Some had to take lots of breaks and others pressed on to the... More
