I decided last minute to go have a look around Pearl Harbour on my last day in Hawaii. So glad I did. It was very interesting and I felt I learnt a lot more about this sad day in history. I just caught the local bus (took about an hour). Once there you can look around a free museum and get the free shuttle to Ford Island to see the Missouri. You need to buy tickets to go on board the Missouri, into the aviation museum and out to the Arizona Memorial.

If you were alive on Dec 7, 1941, then you MUST see this. For younger visitors, there are things to see here to remind you (or teach you) about an important part of US history.

My one complaint is that you take a ferry out to the actual monument (OK for that), but the Arizona itself is only visible at low tide. If you visit at higher tide (as we did), the ship is not at all visible.

Despite that glitch in our own visit, there is a lot to absorb and learn here.

Visited here on Memorial Day. Enjoyed learning history and honoring our troops. We did not opt for any of the formal guided tours, but there was definitely a lot to see. Definitely worth the trip.

Old, disorganised, needs a total revamp. There’s always something wrong with the boats, the pier or a slight breeze that they cannot run for the boats for the Arizona memorial. I feel like they’ve neglected it and it’s still the same as when they first opened it decades ago. Having been to Hiroshima in Japan, beautiful ,modern with so much information. Sadly Pearl Harbor is lacking and feels neglected. They could do so much more by update the film ,create nice hospitality spaces , get boats that can handle a bit of wind so they can go out to the memorial so much more information about World War II and not just Pearl Harbor the World War II as a whole and how it ended which you can then finish by seeing the Missouri and where the treaty was signed. So unloved

This was our second trip to Hawaii and first trip to Oahu and no way were we going to miss the Pearl Harbor National Memorial and USS Arizona Memorial. While entry to the Pearl Harbor National Memorial does not require an advance reservation the USS Arizona Memorial does as you need to take a short seven minute boat ride from Pearl Harbor to the USS Arizona. We scheduled our visit early arriving for the 8:00 boat ride, the first of the day. Reservations require you to be there 10 minutes prior to the the ticketed time; make sure you are on time as they run a tight ship. Please note also you are not allowed to carry a bag of any sort to the USS Arizona. The short boat ride is captained by United States Navy personnel and then once at the USS Arizona Memorial there are United States Parks employees and volunteers explaining what you are looking. The visit was excellent and very educational and we highly recommend it. Once back at the Pearl Harbor National Memorial we spent another 90 minutes looking at the museum pieces and reflections on history. We currently have a family member who is on active military duty so the experience was even more meaningful. This was an excellent visit and we know once we are back on Oahu we’d likely visit again, as it is one of the top attractions not only in Hawaii but in the world.

The amount of places that you have to pay for are ridiculous. You could easily spend $300 for 2 just to see all the sites at the memorial.
They need to reduce the amount of paid attractions. This is a military base for heaven's sake. I served, I should know.

We weren’t disappointed with the tour package, but with the presentation at Pearl Harbor National Memorial. When we arrived for our tour, there was no preliminary explanation or history provided about what took place there. We were told that a video (voiced by Stockard Channing) could be viewed after the tour, but the viewing in advance of the tour had been cancelled due to COVID. Many of my fellow travelers were from other countries and would have benefited with some history. I believe we are missing a prime opportunity to educate and to promote some national pride with so many people passing through this historic site on a daily basis. The tour group was sent into the auditorium before being ushered to the boat to the Memorial. We strongly suggest that the video be reinstated and viewed in the auditorium by the entire tour group before being taken to the Memorial. We very much missed seeing it, and with most COVID restrictions being lifted, it is definitely time to reinstate the video.
