Little known gem of a museum
What a gem the copper museum is! We went on the recommendation of a friend and are very happy we did. Fascinating info about copper - history, uses, role in the development of this area, the Clark family and more. Housed in an old high school, there are rooms of copper items, 'museum morsels ' and science shown in a fascinating way. The gentleman at the desk was a wealth of information also. I highly recommend visiting if you are in the area.

Don't miss this unbelievable museum, however far you have to drive to see it.
Words can't describe our surprise and delight seeing this museum. This out of the way museum would be a hit in the largest city in the U.S. Thousands and thousands of curated pieces of worked copper, bronze and brass - the focus being copper. A family collection, labor of love, professionally displayed and lighted in a beautifully restored early 20th Century school building. The walk through the many rooms of the collection is overwhelming.

THE place to go if you manage to find a rainy day
When your Sedona visit has an all day rain forecast, where do you go? Arizona Copper Art Museum! (Though would be worth the visit even in better weather.) This was a spot not on our initial agenda, but glad we found it on the map and decided to explore. The history of copper, blended with useful and decorative copper pieces held our attention for a few hours. The employee that welcomed us was full of knowledge to share. Even the teens were fascinated by a number of pieces, especially the artillary art catching their eye.

    Dazzling!
There are fewer things that bring me more delight when I travel than chancing across a small, unusual museum. We hit the jackpot when we visited the Copper Art Museum this week. It’s astonishing that someone was interested enough in a metal—ONE METAL—to curate an entire museum for one. Every room was a delight. We learned so much and spent two happy hours (about an hour longer than the average visitor) poking about. Jan, the lovely receptionist who welcomed us, is a real asset to the museum and I wish her well.

Great little museum in a fun small town. Lots and lots of copper. I feel like I learned so much about copper, Clark family, and town of Clarkdale.

This small museum has lots to offer. Well worth a visit of about an hour. They have a very large collection and the items are nicely displayed. Quite fascinating.

While staying in Sedona, we decided to drive to Clarkdale and visit the Copper Art Museum, which was a first for us.
Little Clarkdale used to be a big hub way back in the days that William Clark ran a huge mining operation in the area with the peak production being between 1915 and 1925. Clarkdale lost its fame and prominence when the copper mining ceased.
There isn't much left to see there today.
However, in 2012 the Copper Art Museum opened in the old Clarkdale schoolhouse building and houses one of the world's finest collection of copper artefacts, together with fascinating exhibits explaining world copper history, geology and everything you need to know about this noble metal.
The whole museum is worth visiting. Come with lots of time because there's lots to see.
Our favourite part, which really blew us away was the Trench Art room, where you can see a huge collection of art work produced from used artillery shell casings in the trenches of WWI as part of the soldiers' way of passing time and keeping busy in between battles.
However, as i mentioned above, go, follow the markings on the floor and see the whole museum.
We Loved It!! Fantastic Experience!!

The Copper Museum was a very interesting and fun place to visit. We learned about the history of copper in our world, and also a lot about Clarkdale and its part in the history of Arizona.
