Verde Canyon Railroad is a Southwestern adventure that takes passengers on a ride through Arizona’s backcountry, only accessible from the comfort of this train.

This legendary “boutique” attraction allows members of groups an uncommon view of a wildly-wonderful red-rock canyon. The four-hour excursion requires no laborious effort or exertion except by the highly-trained staff who absolutely love what they do. As evidenced by exceedingly positive reviews, they do it very well.

Verde Canyon Railroad is the only excursion train in the Southwest which offers every guest two seats for the price of one: inside viewing through large panoramic windows in all coaches and 360-degree views from open-air viewing cars attached to each coach. As the train passes “through” a grand canyon, both vantages celebrate incomparable scenery, high-desert flora and fauna, historic trestles, dramatic geology, unusual rock formations and passage through a century-old 680-foot tunnel. Throughout the journey the captivating history of the Verde Canyon and the Railroad unfolds with narration interlaced with a wide genre of popular railroad tunes.

This is a really good trip up the verde river canyon by rail. The attraction goes about 2 hours up to an old stop called Perkinsville then returns. You get great views of the river canyon as well as a decent run down on the history of the area from the train's docents. We booked first class tickets which provided... More

If you enjoy the clickety-clack and sway of a train ride, spend an afternoon travelling through the Arizona landscape! My friends and I booked the passage that included a champagne toast and appetizers (don't expect gourmet food - - it was fine, but nothing fancy.... ie. nachos, pigs in a blanket, etc.) Seating on the train car was comfortable, but... This train ride was nice, they have outside carts if you would like to sit outside & we stayed in the 1st class train & it was worth it! 1st class has a cash bar & complimentary snacks & water (wings, sandwiches, brownies, etc) My only problem was....(no fault of the staff) I paid for 1st class to relax & some people... 30 minutes outside of Sedona sits the re-energized, renovated rail line that moved ore and supplies out of the secluded area of Jerome, Clarkdale and other towns into a scenic wonder for those that love the outdoors and train rides. It was a great four hour ride that allowed us to go outside to the open air car and feel... More

Relaxing and well organised trip. Comfortable seats in 1st class carriage with nibbles provided; and a good range of beverages available at reasonable prices. Friendly organised staff. A gentle journey. One toilet per carriage. Spacious seating with tables for small groups. An open viewing-carriage for the brave on a cold January day with fresh snow on ranges. Carriages well heated... More

If you are in the Phoenix area, this is about a 2 hour drive to Clarkdale. The drive is quite scenic eventhough it is rather long. The train leaves at 1pm but you must check in at 11:45am. The headquarters in Clarkdale are very impressive. There is a lovely gift shop well provisioned with a variety of souvenirs suitable for... More

I had much higher expectations of this attraction than what it turned out to be. I enjoy riding on the railroad and have done so many times before. So, I guess the idea of riding the train was not a new or unique experience. So, we signed up for the New Year's Eve family event. Again, I was expecting more... More

Verde Canyon Railroad was a nice way to spend the afternoon after being done with the Sedona art and shopping scene. We opted for first class, which included nice couches, complimentary appetizers and bottled water. (Drinks/smoothies cost extra.) The scenery was terrific and the attendants in the inside car and outside viewing car were very nice and fun to listen... More

We purchased 1st class tickets for our afternoon trip through the Verde Canyon, on the Verde Canyon Railroad. Our tickets allowed us sofas for our trip through the canyon, plus a buffet lunch, which included chicken wings, cheeses and other items. For additional costs, one could purchase a bottle of wine for $16.00 (decent wine too!), plus beer and mixed... More
