Not too many shops overall to buy things in, especially with so many outlets nearby. Does have some great restaurants but not a place for shopping or much views.

We smelled waffel cones baking, saw ice-skaters enjoying the special ice rink, felt the breeze of the ocean as we walked along the shop lined streets.

I'm usually in Newport off season. But my son lives there all summer he says....restaurants and bars usually close by 1am. The small shops usually close down between 8-9pm. Have a fun time in August!! It's also the right... More

We will be going to Newport for 2 nights the beginning of March. We're going to tour a few of the mansions but would like to hit some shops too. I checked and 5 of the mansions are open - what about the shops on Thames street?

Depending on the time of year and day, there is some street parking; Otherwise, there are a couple of public parking lots ($10/day). Thames Street runs almost the whole length of Newport's downtown area. Restaurants, shops... More
