The Museum of Yachting, formerly located at Fort Adams is no longer. Its holdings are now part of the International Yacht Restoration School (IYRS) on Thames Street in Newport. The 'museum' continues operation in the form of the annual wooden yacht regatta, hosted by IYRS. What is left to view is now in the IYRS library, including a small collection... More

Supposedly moved from Fort Adams to Themes St. We went to both sites and the only remnant of a once lovely museum is a library of old boat building journals.

My son and husband wanted to visit the Museum of Yachting during our trip to Newport. A local guidebook said it was located at Fort Adams. We drove out to the fort and wandered around looking for the museum. We saw a sign for the museum but when we asked where it was we were told it had moved to... More

The Museum of Yachting is a small two floor building that holds lots of pictures and models of sailboats. They also build a boat right in the Museum.
