Cliff walk is a very nice, well kept scenic walk along the water behind the mansions. Some terrain is difficult as you are walking on large rocks proper shoes are required for safety.

It's really a nice walk along the cliffs and all the historical mansions. It will give a global overview of the city and its history. This is a "must do" !

It's a beautiful way to see Newport but it is really cold in December. Also, the restrooms are closed in the winter.

Bundled up on a freezing New Years Eve and walked up to The Teahouse past beautiful mansions and stunning views of the water. Bring binoculars- you can see the Sakkonet Ligjthouse .

We went for a walk starting at the “40 Steps” to the left. The cliffs are moderate, yet beautiful. This walk was in January, but the sun was shining and, despite the 19F temperature, the crispiness of the air was incomparable to any walk we...More

No matter the time of year, take a walk along the Cliff Walk. Even in 35 degree weather, it is a lovely walk. Don't forget your camera!

I personally find it an amazingly relaxing walk. It can get busy but it also allows you a good distance. Beautiful views of the waters and you can spot some of the famous houses along the way. It's good for a run as well. Parking...More

Many coastal areas have paths for walking along the coast, but the cliff walk really is spectacular in terms of its views, length, and quality. We walked portions of it and are planning to return to walk its entire length!

This is an incredible place to go running BEFORE the tourists arrive. Once you get to the rocks, running is hard, but turn in to Bellevue and continue for great views of the mansions. I run this year round, especially for views of the sunrise.

The 40 steps is an extension of the cliff walk and it won’t affect your visit in anyway. Youll be walking along the cliff and come to an area with the forty steps. You have an option to go down them (not up) to the bottom... More

Parking available mid-point near the college as well. Paid parking spots on the street next to the Breakers home. Trolley is a good idea though - it is a long but beautiful walk end to end. Enjoy!
