We have talked about visiting the Touro Synagogue but never made it until this summer. So glad that we did. Our docent was extremely knowledgeable and interesting.

Small, but historic synagogue in Washington Square (main area) of Newport. Days back to 18th century; George Washington wrote a letter on behalf of this synagogue. Small group tours (no charge). Still have religious services; men sit downstairs; women upstairs.

Loved our tour of the Touro Synagogue. Our guide was excellent! She offered a terrific overview of the history of Newport and the important role the Touro Synanogue played in that history.

Touro Synagogue is historic and worth seeng. The guide does a wonderful presentation. The short film in the visitor center should be watched before going into the sanctuary.

A beautiful building with wonderful history. Our American story is built on diversity, and the story of this synagogue is a thread that connects us today with the Spanish Inquisition and the American Revolution. Fascinating.
