We enjoyed the house and museum. It is a glimpse into the past and a tale of the people that settled the west. Nearly all came out west with big dreams of making a fortune, and most went broke. But they built a country. If...More

My daughter and I really enjoyed this must-see stop for history buffs. The Chateau is very well kept up. There are a few guides in the Chateau that can give you a brief history of the home. Two of the ladies stood out while we...More

A short film that describes the home before you enter the home which destroys the expectations. The family story is interesting.

Start in the museum to get the background you need to appreciate what you are seeing when you stroll through the home. I left the museum wanting to read about the family, but apparently no one has written any books, because the bookstore only had...More

New visitors centre since my last visit, which was only 27 yeas ago. It was very interesting- watch for examples of her artwork scattered here and there, she was very talented. The house tour was very informative.

In this part of North Dakota, the theme is all things Teddy Roosevelt, including this historic house. The timing and history are shared, with the settlement of the West as the unifying theme. The interpretive center provides a great introduction to the historic house.

The story of the Marquis and his wife, Medora, is fascinating. I love that the house is kind of frozen in time. Most of the furnishings are original since the home was donated to the Medora foundation by the family. Therefore, it made the tour...More

We enjoyed touring the home and becoming more acquainted with the beginnings of Medora. The guides were knowledgeable and friendly. They were available for questions, but did not follow along with you. That gave us time to read the information posted on the walls. The...More

The visitor center for the Chateau de Mores is very interesting. Amazing to think people had that much money even that long ago and how they lived and hob knobbed with the rich and famous. Once you drive from the visitor center to the parking...More
