Being from MI, we love our waterfalls. So happy that we found this Falls as spectacular as our own! We went at the right time the falls were almost all the way across and with a strong current. Advise to ones not from area. The Grand Falls Bible Church sign is the road into the reservations hidden delight!

The drive isn't bad, might need a 4x4 when it's in the rainy seasons or after the snow melts. When you arrive, you are on Navajo Nation, the tribe has built up the overlook of the falls with a gazebo, restrooms, parking area and there are a few covered picnic areas. The view if amazing when the water is flowing... More

We made it kinda last in the season, wasn't flowing significantly, but still beautiful. The hike was super easy and worth it. Because it wasn't flowing as much as it usually was, we were able to go up onto the first level of the falls. Scenery was amazing!! Suggest an SUV of some kind to reach the overlook area, it's... These falls, aka Chocolate Falls(see photo), which lie northeast of the Winona Exit off U.S. 40, east of Flagstaff, can be hard to find and the main portion of this review is to offer some guidance. Heading north from the Winona Exit on the paved road, go about 2 miles to the paved Leupp Road, turning right or NE for... More

I went there years ago, when it was dry., and it was pretty interesting. This year, after the winter rains, it was flowing a lot of chocolate colored water. I followed my GPS from Flagstaff, and it took us an hour out of our way, all the way through Leupp AZ. We drove down a horrible washboard dirt road for... More

I live in the area (Flagstaff) and visited the falls for the first time. The natural scene is greatly worth the trouble, having been created by a volcanic lava flow thousand of years ago causing a bend in the river. If the river is flowing heavily, and it may be dry part of the year, it is spectacular. My complaint... More

I've wanted to go here for quite some time. My boyfriend surprised me with a trip today and I must say I wasn't disappointed. We came off of I-40 by Holbrook and traveled through the Navajo reservation. Lots of dirt roads, but nothing ridiculously bumpy. I definitely want to go back when the Falls are at full capacity.

The area is very hard to find. It is very far from major highways. Dirt road with lots of rocks. Difficult to drive on. When we finally reached the falls an hour and 40 minutes after leaving the highway they were not exciting. They do appear out of no where which is cool but the drive is not worth it.... More

Added this last minute and so glad we did! We missed the peak water flow by about a week but still so worth the drive. Very out of the way and off the beaten path. Make sure you follow previous reviews and take the correct turn off. GPS is NOT accurate!!
