We headed down San Francisco St and had fun looking in all the store windows, buying soap at the Flagstaff Soap Company and getting sweet treats at one of the candy stores. Lots of sports stores with clothing, packs, shoes and equipment. The prices are good and all the sale people were friendly and fun to talk too. Had a... More

Many shops and restaurants on the streets of Flagstaff's historic downtown on the north side of the historic Route 66 and BNSF railroad tracks. Aside from the buildings this is a great way to see Eastbound and Westbound freight trains. AMTRACK also stops at Flagstaff but only during very early morning and very late evening.

All the old town buildings are preserved still. The old town motel signs around the Route 66 are still there. Lots of small locally owned business around to eat and shop Indian stuff.

I found myself stuck in Flagstaff for an extra day. With time to kill I went to check out their downtown. What a great find! Lots of indy shops, restaurants, bars, coffee houses, and dessert places. Several blocks worth. Plus beautiful sunshine and a glorious view of the mountains. If you're driving across the country on I-40, stop off and... More

Parking can be a bit of an issue, but we were able to find a spot in a parking garage. I think the cost was $12 for the day. Everything is within walking distance. We found a candy shop, art galleries, gift shops, wineries, breweries, and bars.

Enjoyed the walk. Can do the entire area in a lazy afternoon. Several eateries and breweries in the area. Well maintained olden day facades on several establishments. Go to the visitor center for a map and orientation. The train station is also very nice. Lots of free parking in the area.
