Snow peaked mountains

Every place we went on our trip to the Grand Canyon, these mountains were in the background. They were beautiful.

I'm amazed to discover we can review something so iconic, so powerful, as the Peaks themselves. My favorite spot in the state; if I ever got a tattoo this silhouette would be it. The highest point in Arizona, with permafrost in places, a sky ride to get to the view you'll never forget...sacred to many First Nations, so I recommend... More

Perfect timing, late August, for viewing the yellow wildflower fields in and around Flagstaff. An especially beautiful spot,is near Arizona Snowbowl, with the Peaks in the background.

On our way to the Grand Canyon our guide pointed out the San Francisco Peaks; on our way back we saw them from the other side. We saw enough to think that on another trip we would like to go a lot closer, perhaps hiking a bit. It was fun to see this particular range, which has so often been... More

This is one of the prettiest hiking areas in Flagstaff. Lockett Meadow is a popular summer destination for campers and hikers seeking cooler temperatures. Then in October, the big attraction is the changing colors of the aspens --- a joy for photographers. After navigating the narrow U.S. Forest Service road to Lockett Meadow and the Inner Basin Trail, your reward... More

The S F Peaks are the remains of five different volcanoes that erupted about four million years ago and have since been glaciated. To the east there was a substantial collapse of the part of one of the Peaks, creating the Inner Basin. The highest elevation in the state of Arizona is the top of the Peaks and in the... More

After a most hair raising ride up the edge of a mountain to 10,000 Feet you get the most amazing view. It is worth the ride up there, They have campsites for a fee which I am quite sure get sold out in the summer months. Good cheap place to stay though would recommend for families that like to camp.... More

Sitting at 12,660 feet, Humphries the tallest peak in Arizona the view is breath taking. The climb is a trail of many roots and rocks, but not that hard if you take your time.
