We drove through this area and it was wonderful to be able to access the historic and well preserved ruins. The visitor centre has a great guidebook that explains all the features clearly. Well worth a visit.

It's a nice place with historical value. My kid was amazed with a blowhole in the park. We had a nice time.

Wapatki consists of 5 pueblos and is directly north of the Sunset Crater National Monument. I visited the park combined with the Sunset Crater NM, going to Wupatki after visiting the Sunset Crater. Perhaps it was because I went Wupatki second, but I enjoyed the Sunset Crater more. In fairness, I did not do much at Wupatki, which only included... More

We all enjoyed the history of the monument. The paths were accessible and the museum/gift shop was clean, as were the bathrooms. A great bit of history...don't go when it is hot outside...or be sure to bring water bottles.

Off the main road but sooo worth the detour. Drive past Sunset Crater & the lava fields. How did these ancient people survive in this harsh landscape?? The ruins were amazing with immaculate stone work, tiny, tiny doorways & high ceilings to keep the heat out. Don't bypass the Sunset Crater loop in your haste to reach Monument Valley!

We visited in December, on out way back from the grand Canyon. The road there is good but desolate. You should go to all the ruins marked, not just the main one at the center. Your admission is good for sunset crater as well. There is some up and down walking, but trails are mostly paved or good. No shade.

We enjoy walking through the monument and catching a glimpse of days gone by. The visitor center is very interesting and the rangers are helpful. Our kids enjoy the junior ranger program and it is a fun learning experience. We have visited here several times.

This was a very educational National Monument to visit-about 18 miles off the main road, but worth the drive. The NPS provides you with a booklet explaining the different parts of the pueblo village in a numbered fashion that corresponds with numbers along the trail. There is one room in the pueblo you can actually go inside. There is a... More

Most sites have rock outlines or maybe a partial pueblo. This one has four at various states of completeness. Compared to what I have seen at others, this is very special. All of them are only about 1/2 mile to get to, though the citadel might be difficult for some.
