We had a great time kayaking Sitka! Our tour guide, Emily, was very knowledgeable and helped us find several different animals. The best part is you get to kayak out the entire time, and a boat picks you up so you don’t have to see...More
This was a fun excursion! Our guide, Dan, was very knowledgeable about the area, wildlife, and got us pretty close (safely) to some humpback whales that were nearby. We were able to see starfish, jellyfish, humpback whales, several bald eagles, herons, sea otters, and sea...More
We had a great time on this kayaking adventure. We were a little concerned about possibly tipping over, since while on a previous experience on a lake in Washington State we did tip over. HOWEVER, the kayaks the hosts provide are VERY stable and the...More
Every member of their team was a pleasure to work with. We did the fort tour, which provided a great mix of paddling and walking for our group of experienced and amateur paddlers. Their operation is located at the bus terminal downtown—doesn’t get any more...More
This was a fabulous adventure. It was raining, but they gave us rain gear and we had such a great time. The sites were amazing and we went to some bunkers where we hiked around. That was really cool seeing the old WWII bunkers. Kayaking...More
Dan the man was our tour guide. They were professional and the sites gorgeous. They even provided a cookie snack of the most delicious cookie ever! I will remember this forever. It was not strenuous, it required zero experience and they provide all the equipment....More
We had a lot of fun on the half day kayak tour during our cruise ship's stop in Sitka. The guide did a great job of showing us around the little islands. We saw lots of wildlife including whales, fish and sea lions.

Hello Brent, John here. Great question - I occasionally have lower back problems so I share the same concerns. The 4.5-hr Paddle & Cruise trip includes about 2.75 hours of paddling at a relatively leisurely pace. The kayak seats have lower back support, and most people do fine with that amount of paddling. If someone does start to experience some discomfort, the paddling routes are close to shore so there are opportunities to stop and stretch out for a few minutes if you let the guide know a break is needed. Also, the guides have easy access to communicate with the base by cell phone and radio, and about once every couple of years a guide will ask if I can come out with our water taxi boat if someone does not feel comfortable continuing with the paddle, and I am happy to do it. If you feel you can sit for up to 90-minutes with out a stand-n-stretch, this experience will be just fine for you. If you don't have that range for staying seated, it may be best to choose a different activity. Sitka is an amazing place. Whatever you opt to do, Brent, I'm sure you are going to have an excellent time. John
