The National Park Service has done a spectacular job of maintaining this memorial to the men of both sides who fought and died. It is now very peaceful, however, the horror is still with you as you travel this battlefield. Take your time, read the plaques and as you do, you will be walking with the ghosts that are blue... Don't miss the visitor's center & the excellent movie about the battle. You can take a self-guided auto tour of the battlefield. Everything is very well done. And it's free!

Hats off to our National Park Service for maintaining this park. Wow...what a moving history lesson. My wife and I are in our 60's and knew a fair about about the history of the Civil War, but we learned so much more than we had known before. The first thing everyone should do when they go there is to watch... More

Very well kept and they have done a lot with the park. The roads are a little confusing so be sure to follow the tour signs.

The battlefield is preserved beautifully. It is tranquil and serene, but maintains a sense of the horror that happened here on April 6, 1864.

Our daughter is a history buff and wanted to visit this National Park, nice drive from Murfreesboro windy roads about 2 1/2 hours. Weather was great, park was empty. Started in cemetery, rolling hills and views over the Tennessee river. Next did the 50 minute movie - excellent! Best introductory film I have seen at any historical sites. Muesum is... More

My great, great grandfather was in the Battle of Shiloh and was captured three times! I was excited to actually see the site. It is a sobering as any Civil War battlefield, but with the added factor of having a personal, albeit distant, connection. Quiet and quite remote, I'm glad I made the "pilgrimage" to pay tribute.

My husband and I celebrated the park's 155th Anniversary of the Battle of Shiloh last week. We were on a mission to know more about an ancestor who fought in it and to our surprise there were two monuments dedicated to this great, great, great, great uncle. The Pittsburgh Landing's Visitor Center offers an informative 48-minute film on the history... More

This is my second trip to Shiloh NMP. My wife and I were there for the 155th Illumination Day of Remembrance most recently on April 8th, 2017. We volunteered to help with the setup and lighting of the 23,746 remembrance luminaries, one for every soldier killed, wounded, or missing from the bloody battle of Shiloh (April 6-7, 1862). What an... More
