Inexpensive way to spend a couple of hours with the kids. Most specimens are in large glass enclosures (dead), however, they do have a really fun sampling of live bugs such as spiders, scorpions, millipedes, cockroaches (cool ones, too!), and even snakes and amphibians, including...More

Tucked away inside the mall this place is a gem. Make sure to chat with the owner who will give you run down on this and the techniques he uses to mount the insects and how he's collected the specimens. This his personal collection. You...More

This is a really small "museum". It's basically a collection of pinned insects (they told me they only have half the collection actually on display and are working on getting the rest of it up) which was very impressive, plus a moderate amount of live...More

I really enjoyed my visit to Harrell House Bug Museum. This is a great place to bring kids. My husband and I went on a lark but had a great time. Best part of the opportunity to touch/hold some friendly bugs. I have a particular...More

Thank you for your review. It is not clear from your review if you actually visited the museum or if you just visited the gift shop and decided you didn't want to pay for the museum because you were unimpressed with the mall location. We...More

There's more to this museum than I would have guessed. There were kids who were soaking up information. But adults were equally interested. The live section was especially fascinating. Wish we'd had another two hours to spend.

Alive and dead, bugs of all kinds are marvelously, sometimes beautifully displayed in this roomy space full of education and delight. Probably more to see than you have time for, Harrell House has enthusiastic hosts with stories, insights, and information to enhance this surprising experience.

Hi Lesley, I’m sorry that you did not enjoy your visit. I am the owner and I take your criticisms very seriously. Part of the experience here is, indeed, getting a chance to touch or hold some of our friendly live invertebrates, including a tarantula,...More

This is something you have to see, if you're in Santa Fe, especially if you have children (not that it's not also fascinating for an adult.) It doesn't take that long, and you see some unusual bugs, butterflies, spiders, etc, that you didn't even know...More

We couldn't take a balloon ride as this was the windy season. Harrell House is inside and a fun place to visit.
