Went there for their harvest festival, not knowing what to expect. This place is actually a working museum showing how people lived 400 years ago. You really get the feel of just how hard day-to-day life was. The docents were volunteers who were passionate about their roles and very informative.

Thank you so much for your review and support. Our Harvest Festival is one of our most popular events and also the last one of our season. It is always well attended. Our visitors enjoy stomping grapes for wine with their feet and picking out a great pumpkin for Halloween. We were very honored this year to be voted the... More

History attractions can range from the kitschy to the reverential. This is an authentic, if amazingly restored and recreated, living history museum portraying Spanish colonial life from the early 1700s.The docents and artisans aren't always dressed with historical accuracy, but they're pleasant and good at explaining stuff. The buildings, particularly the interiors, are fascinating and look like the original inhabitants... More

Thank you so much for your review. We sincerely appreciate it. We strive for continuous improvement and are working on an historically correct period costume book for our volunteers. Our curator is fabulous at making the various houses and rooms look, as you said, like the people who lived there just stepped away. Thank you for noticing that! We are... More

Depending on when you go, you will experience many different things. The historic buildings & people acting out different roles are amazing. The lavender festival is wonderful. There are many wonderful festivals here to attend, so check the schedule.

Las Golondrinas is the place to go to see how people lived in New Mexico in the 1700's and 1800's. Seeing the kitchens makes you wonder how they managed to get all the meals done plus all the other chores that needed doing. The chapel felt so warm and comforting. The alter screen was incredible for not being in a... More

Thank you for your comments shared on Trip Advisor. We sincerely appreciate them! Yes, traversing our 200+ acres can be a challenge. It is hilly and the trails are dirt and gravel. The atmosphere of this Ranch provides the perfect place to have a ceremony and reception. The staff were awesome as we even had a tour of the museum. There is plenty of space for a small or large party.

Would definitely love to come back and check out the living museum but as far as a nice place for a private party - this was a great catered event. It would have been perfect has the guests been able to enjoy the museum as well! There was one negative - because the museum usually closes at 4:00 - there... More

This is a living museum of over 200 acres including a church and cemetery from the early 16 or 1700's. There are Ola's that are still used for special events and ceremonies. El Rancho Del Las Golondrinas, located about five miles south of Santa Fe, attempts to re-create farm life in the 1800's in the northern Rio Grande Valley. There are lectures, performances, crafts, etc. But it's sporadic -- so best to inquire ahead as to which weekends (primarily spring and fall) there's really something worthwhile going on.
