We thought the tour was very well conducted by a very knowledgable and personable guide who encouraged questions from the group. The house has a great history and is well preserved.

Don't miss this house. Very interesting. Take the guided tour it's well worth it. Our guide was very knowledgeable as she was the marketing director. Would go again as there is so much to see.

Villa Finale is not your typical house tour. It's an unforgettable experience! You will be treated to a visit with literally thousands of priceless artifacts and decorative arts collected by the final owner, Walter Mathis, who donated his entire collection plus the house to the National Trust. I would recommend a docent guided tour as opposed to a self'guided tour.

This house is one of many homes bought and restored by Walter Mathis. I did not pay to tour the house but there were brochures and a cool thing where you could call a number and get historical information about the houses that Mathis restored. It sounds like he collaborates with the SA Conservation Society but there was no mention... More

On your walk around the King William district, don't miss this! This house, with all of owner/developer Walter Mathis' collections on display as they were when he lived there, is a feast for the eye and gladdens the heart. You just feel happy walking from room to room being bombarded by items crammed into every inch of space. We would... More

Villa Finale is full of historical treasures. We had a very knowledgable guide, David, who brought it all to life. He was enthusiastic about the home, the owner who collected all these artifacts, and the history surrounding it all. This is a great place to spend a couple of hours if you want to get off the typical beaten tourist... More

Villa Finale was the home of Walter Mathis. He was a great collector, especially of objects related to Napoleon Bonaparte. There are many treasures here, and if you like fine things and history, you can spend a couple of pleasurable hours there looking at precious items.

San Antonios's population explosion strangely led to the purchase of this once elegant property almost fifty years ago and the restoration of the surrounding neighborhood, known as the King William Area, now a highlight of any visit to this thriving city. Much attention, love, and resources have been paid to every detail not only to the home the itself, but... More

I typically LOVE historic homes and checking out all the details of the structure, how people lived, etc. This home overwhelmed me. A collector of things bought this home, revitalized the neighborhood (yah!) and left his collection in the home. He actually decorated it himself. Sooo.....there are lots and lots of things in there and not necessarily set up in... More
