Our tour guide recommended this shop for its historic maps, weaponry and its history. Shop owner is very keen to give you as much information as you choose. Diorama donated by Phil Collins with its narration should be viewed before visiting the Alamo. Well worth a visit.

Old maps, antique weapons, and a diorama of The Alamo, narrated by Phil Collins. We bought an 1838 original map of NJ. Owner was very knowledgable.

We were very pleased we followed the advice of others here and visited the History Shop before visiting the Alamo. Owner was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the subject. We'd have spent much more time at the Alamo if we hadn't gone to the shop. Bunker was very stuffy & warm, we were glad we could skip some of it.

Finally got to visit the History Shop. It has a lot of history you may not get when you visit The Alamo. They have a diorama donated by Phil Collins and with the narration gives a great perspective of the battle of the Alamo. There is also a small dig visible inside showing the underbelly of the grounds. Worth the... More

This is a little gem worth every penny. Besides selling maps, books and artefacts this has a scaled model of The Alamo. The owner narrates the history of the battle and for a small fee there is a narrative by the rock star Phil Collins who actually owns the model and shop. Very informative and worth seeing before going into... More

The gentleman running The History Shop was very friendly and tried very hard to get our $5 to listen to the story of the Alamo. It was an old, old book shop ready to be a fire hazard. It has a large model of the Alamo to look at while listening. It was dirty, boring and not worth the trip... More

The History Shop is a great stop if you like history. Al is an excellent conveyor of information on the events leading up to, during and after the Battle of the Alamo. The twelve minute Phil Collins light show is very good too. I easily good give this an excellent but it is more suited for those who really love... More

Go to the Alamo, see and read what is there, then go to the history shop which is just across the street out the gift shop gate. There are all sorts of maps, antique weapons, ect. There is an dig that was sponsored to find artifact from the Alamo Battle. Also there is a scaled model of what the Alamo... More

Across the street from the Alamo, this tiny shop is easy to miss. I've passed by it many times over the years but finally went inside recently with my granddaughters and we all loved it. There's an archeological dig right in the middle of the store and the friendly, well informed manager explained the significance of the visible artifacts encased... More

When I first visited I didn't know what the store was about, you walk in this long narrow hallway and think, 'should I enter this?" SO GLAD I DID, the hall is narrow due to a wall which was built to accommodate the best display of the entire Alamo grounds at the time of battle ; donated by the famous... More
