We chose to do the rare tour rather than the discovery tour. This is a truly breathtaking place. Our guide gave us the history of how the cave was found and made accessible. At the bottom they turned the lights out for a minute so we could experience total darkness. Really worth the short drive from San Antonio.

Every cave is different, and this one was not like others I have seen. So I recommend you try it! I did the Crystal Palace Tour. $20. About 2 hours, but you stop and rest a few times on the walk. Just walk in a t-shirt or something light and you will be fine. Its not hot or uncomfortable. But... More

Having been in several caverns and caves...this was our first time ever in a WARM cave...leave the jacket at home! The guide was really informative and seemed to know what she was talking about and the sights and views inside were unbelievable! At 70 degrees and 90% humidity you didn't mind spending time down in the cavern...and the Discovery tour... More

Kind of far out if you are downtown San Antonio I would skip this one! Caverns are ok but, I have seen caverns in other states and they are all the same. I do recommend you be is ok shape if you are older and not in shape skip this place. Don't Uber out there you may not get a... More

When you first walk in, it might be calm or it might be crazy. It's a tiny entry way, and the busiest area of the whole complex. It's best to research before you get there, their website is well laid out. But if your legs and heart are healthy, buy the combo tour. They will space out the tours for... More

Give yourself about 3 hours in total. We had to wait about 30 mins for the next tour. The tour takes about 1 1/2 and is a 3/4 mile walk up and down some pretty steep ramps. There are a few stairs as well. Wear good footwear, I wouldn't recommend sandels as it's quite wet down there. I recommend you... More

Of the cave systems in the San Antonio area, this is the largest and by far most impressive. That said, it's not the Carlsbad Caverns, so it's not nearly as large. And that's OK. There's enough natural beauty here still to provide a truly memorable experience. Over the past 25 years, the owners have significantly improved the tour (there are... More

Truly a unique and must see in the Hill Country. You can do a regular tour which is really appropriate for all ages. There are also more advanced adventures so check times and availability far in advance for those tours. Heads up: after a severe rain storm check their site. They do offer tours when the underground river is flowing.... More

The caverns really are majestic- definitely worth the trip! You will walk down- and up lots of steps and switchbacks- the ground is wet in places too- so wear comfortable shoes with good grip. There are a number of photo ops as you feel you've arrived in a different world. Great half day trip.

An impressive, modern compound with the cave, Safari drive, gem hunting & ziplines but we only visited the cave. I've been to many caves & this was one of the prettiest. It had a wide variety of formations & lots of them plus several very large rooms. At 70 degrees & 99% humidity you can get by with short sleeves,... More
