A Beautiful Cathedral that dates back to 1736 and holds some of the graves of the heroes of the Alamo and is a focal point of the Main Plaza. Nice & quiet and a good place to reflect and at night is well lit for all !

The Cathedral is well worth the walk and time to visit. It is all decorated to the holidays and very clean. You MUST go at night if you are there on a Friday, Saturday, Sunday at 9:00, 9:30 or 10:00 and experience the SAGA light show that is shown on the front of the Cathedral. Very well done and worth... The cathedral is just off the Riverwalk next to the courthouse. Sadly, we missed the light show (it is dark on Mondays.) The church holds the remains of three of the heroes of the Alamo. Highly recommend.

It's an easy walk from the Riverwalk section of town. Peaceful church. On certain nights there is a 20 minute spectacular lightshow on the face of the cathedral that is one of the most memorable sights in San Antonio!! Check their website for nights and times. This show is not to be missed!!

This is one of the oldest cathedrals in the US and very beautiful. The Burial Tomb of Davy Crockett, William B. Travis, and Jim Bowie is located outside the main church. Pope John Paul II visited here in 1987. Take a few moments looking at the Stations of the Cross and stained glass windows.

Stopped by to see this cathedral on our way to Market Square. It was Sunday so there were services actually going on, so we did not go inside. The outside of this building is spectacular. The details is amazing and worth the trip.

It is probably five stars related to other American cathedrals, but I guess I have gazed on too many amazing cathedrals in Europe.

San Fernando is one of the oldest cathedrals in the US. It is striking on the outside and gorgeous on the inside. It is not ornate, but is still beautifully done. The stations of the cross are large and quite spectacular. We plan to return for another visit.

San Fernando Cathedral originally built between 1738 ad 1750 and is one of the oldest active cathedrals in the United States. In 1831, Jim Bowie married Ursula de Veramendi in San Fernando. It has the burial Tomb of Davy Crockett, William B. Travis, and Jim Bowie. The cathedral is also known as the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria... More
