Great base. Good BX and food court. Stay away from the small BX's on training side of base for shopping. They are filled with recruits and long lines.

Excellent exchange for shopping and great places to eat. The commissary has lots of great items as well.

Nice small base, however whenever they let out 700 airmen and their families and it is 100+ degrees outside, it gets quite crowded with limited options.

Our family visited Lackland to watch my husband graduate BMT and Lackland has to be the most polite Air Force base I have ever been on. Everyone was so pleasant and helpful!

Are you going with anyone who is active/retired military? If not, I believe the only way to tour the base is with a school or organization that has made a formal request. To my knowledge, the general public isn't allowed... More
