We had heard a lot about the wonderful breakafast at the Guenther House, so we headed off with great anticipation. The grounds are beautiful; there were a lot of people waiting for breakfast but they had urns of coffee for the folks. We saw no signs to register for a table, so we walked aimlessly looking for the entrance. After 45 minutes we saw what looked like an entrance, with diners at cute tables. We entered to give our name and were told it was an hour wait and we had to register outside. The gentleman was nice and suggested we visit the museum and/or get some fruit and a pastry to go.
We went outside but couldn't see a place to register, so we left. I hope you have a better experience.

A lot of people told us go because their breakfast would be memorable. It did not disappoint. The food was excellent and the staff was great. However, the house was closed which was disappointing. Also, make sure to get there early. When we left there was a 90 minute wait. I believe they were short-staffed.

The Guenther House consists of:
1 - a smalll museum
2 - the river mill store
3 - restaurant (which I did not have the time to eat at)
The Guenther House was built by the founder of Pioneer Flour Mills (a still operating flour mill located next to the House). The house is located right on the San Antonio River, accessible from River Walk (albeit fairly far from the downtown portion of River Walk), and is part of the hsitoric King William District.
The museum (two rooms) contains a charming display of memorabilia (baking and coking cutters) from the floor mill, along with a history of the Guenther family. There is also a net display of old Dresden china anniversary plates related to the Piorneer Flour Mill. There is also the family's original Victorian parlor, with an elaborage chandelier, lots of gold decorations and a piano. Although not a large display, it was very interesting to visit.
There is also a gift shop that specializes in baking products, cooking utensils, etc. There are two very attractively decorated restaurants, which I looked at, but they were not open as it was not meal time when I visited.
Lots of charm and a nice stop as you wander through the King William District.

This is part of San Antonio history, it's where Pioneer Flour Mills was established. Beautiful setting to get relaxed and enjoy a nice brunch next to the river, either indoor or outdoor. Ther place is an original mansion that you can tour, dine and shop.

So I can't write to the restaurant, which might be lovely, but if you're looking for a historic home visit, skip the Guenther House. It's a restaurant with a gift shop that happen to reside in a previous historic home. And it's CROWDED. Which probably means the restaurant is decent, but, as an 'attraction' per say, I can't recommend it.

We found the "Guenther House Museum" on our tourist map as we explored the King William District, so thought we should visit. It turns out it's really more a restaurant than a museum although there are a couple of rooms from the original house, decorated with Victorian furnishings, such as the parlour room. There is also an exhibit of a collection of china. But if you'd like to visit a home from the period, a tour of Villa Finale in the King William District, would probably be more like what one thinks of as an actual museum/house.

Visited last year with great service. Turned up one day to be told an hour and a half wait so decided to come back the next day. This was our mistake. The server was borderline rude, the food very slow and we had to ask the manager to chase it up. It was only a small order and the restaurant wasn't too busy. In the end we did not tip as the server was very brusque. Will not go again.

Didn't get there early enough. We left. Don't mind 15 - 20 minutes, but we don't wait 2 hours for anyone. The wait is a tribute to their popularity.

This is really not a house museum but a restaurant. Interesting architecture. I only walked through as I had already eaten. But worth a look if in the King William District.

We "toured" the Guenther House, which wasn't much of a tour. It was a few rooms and a gift shop. There is a restaurant, which many seem to enjoy. There wasn't an admission fee, so if you are walking by, you might stop in, but to make a special trip just to see might be a bit of a disappointment.
