I didn't want to deal with Boston drivers, parking, or hotel prices, which is why I hit upon staying in Salem, which is so perfectly situated to not just Boston, but to other New England destinations. The ferry isn't cheap -- $45 per person round...More

We took the ferry from Boston to Salem and highly recommend it. It was a simple ride and just lovely. Great view of the skyline as you are leaving the harbor!

We enjoyed our round trip ferry to Boston. We were able to stay much cheaper in Salem and enjoy both cities. We took the commuter ferry, which is considerably cheaper than going during other times. You must take the 7 a.m. from Salem to Boston...More

FREE, easy parking in the lot right at the ferry terminal, the ferry left right on time and Cruise Director Jim was very informative about the sights along the way . We went on foot to the Trillium Beer Garden on the Greenway, then to the...More

We loved the short trip from Boston to Salem! 45-1 hour trip, easy to purchase tickets, and included a short and surprisingly insightful tour guide session about the surrounding landmarks. Cons: you couldn't always hear the guide over the boat and the commotion of drunken...More

This is a must when visiting Salem, MA. The Ferry runs on schedule. The best time would be to leave Salem at 10:30 am and to come back either at 5:30 pm or 7:30 pm Ferry. The ride on the Ferry is not only convenient...More

By far the best way to travel from Salem to Boston. Forget driving! The ferry drops off where all of the action is. They are prompt and the ferry is very clean.

The scenery is wonderful, being on the water is nice, you don't have to worry about traffic or parking, and it drops you off very close to downtown. From Boston we arrived in less than an hour. They have snacks (for a fee) on board...More

Salem Ferry to Boston. It was a wonderful ferry ride across to Boston. We got to view the tall ship in the harbor. Fun city.

My sister, best friend and I took the ferry from Boston to Salem for Halloween. The tour guide was very funny and gave a lot of great information about Boston history. I highly recommend it and would definitely do it again

Definitely walkable - I'd say maybe 10 minutes? A fun alternative to walking would be to purchase an on and off trolley ticket. There's a stop close to the ferry. The tickets can be purchased online. Hope this helps!
