Gates Pass is a drive from downtown Tucson, but worth the drive. Taking the Pass, stopping off at the park to enjoy the view of East & West skies is truly rewarding. AZ Sonora Desert Museum & Old Tucson are west through the pass and only add to the experience of the Pass drive.

It was definitely worth taking this route to drive to the Sonora dessert museum. We came over just before sunset and were afforded great views.

Gates pass is a great place to sight see, take desert pictures, see Sahuaro cactus in in greatness and hike. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes/sturdy shoes and water if you get off the highway and into the mountain area.

What a beautiful place to ride and hike. We saw deer and coyotes, countless birds and beautiful desert flowers. I highly recommend making the trip

We drove down the roads to see more saguaro cactus. There was plenty of pull outs and some trails. The scenery is beautiful.

we made this drive our route to get to the arizona-sonora desert museum. good choice. the area is beautiful and so indicative of the area. at the top of the pass is a pull-out and view point worth stopping for. the road is in good condition and suitable for any car.

This is one of Tucson's most lovely attractions. The scenery is beautiful and one of the last places where you can see the thousands of cacti still standing proud! Bring a journal or book and enjoy letting all your worries and cares go!

A short drive from Tucson (on the way to the Desert Museum or Old Tucson), Gates Pass offers a scenic drive, great views, a good place for a break, and some local history.
