We drive through Gates Pass many times to take a short cut though the mountain, when we stay in the area. It is very beautiful with places to stop and hike. The last time I went through there i saw a herd of mule deer....More

What a bad idea to ride uphill against the traffic of folks going downhill in a drop off grade. Whomever thought cyclists need do this have a deathwish. I wonder just how many are killed here on this pass every year?

This area is just minutes from downtown Tucson. We drove out twice and each time the views were stunning. Weekend hosted more traffic than week day. If you are looking for a desert experience with a thrilling ride, this is it!

Great drive, be aware this road has vehicle restrictions for weight and length limits. Not large RV friendly. The view from the top are magnificent and overlook Saguaro National Park West.

Thanking the mountain roads and hairpin curves found on this road, you have to be a little adventurous. It is a fabulous trip up and over this pass into the valleys on the other side of the Tucson mountains. There is a wonderful place near...More

The pull off parking areas can be crowded and difficult to get into. Paved road, took it back after my visit to Old Tucson. Great Views. No Trailers or large RVs allowed, nor recommended, lots of steep grade and very sharp curves.

Sitting on the ridge between Tuscon Estates and Tuscon allows fabulous views of the sunsets to the west and the sunlight peaking over the hills to the east. Several hiking trails are nearby, but then where aren't there trails in Tucson!

Great way to go into the Saguaro National Park. Two nice stops for pictures at the pass. Fairly crowded for February.

Where we parked at the base of the trail there is a gravel parking lot that will hold about 12 cars.

All above are true. There is a couple of parking lots off the road and a covered viewing area but no picnic facilities, no grills or bathrooms. Just parking and trails.

You can stay in the parking lot and see the sunset or go to a paved overlook area right next to the lot.
