Our Pusch Ridge Stables trail ride was outstanding. I would highly recommend the 90 minute sunset ride. Our family of 4 included 2 young adult children and we were all very happy with the experience. We were able to make same day reservations and were given options for level of experience and several options for ride times. The stable was a short drive north of Tucson on HWY 77 and easy to find. The ride through the Catalina State Park was beautiful. Riders are recommended to wear long pants and closed-toe shoes and socks and I would heed the advice as we rode very close to plants with thorns. Each person was given short directions how to control their horse. However, the horses are so well behaved we didn't have to do much other than keep them from taking a nibble of grass. Our guide was attentive and kept our group of 7 together. My only recommendation would be to ask the guide to stop when you want to take a picture. The Pusch Ridge Stable staff are very friendly and organized. I believe a person of any age would have a great time. This trail ride was an excellent way to experience the desert.

My wife Diane desired to go horseback riding at least once in
Arizona as she is an animal lover. THIS WAS MY FIRST EXPERIENCE outside of being on a pony as a youngster. My wife, however, had a moderate amount of horesback riding dating back to her childhood. Well, the stable horse I rode was Preston a rather beautiful (male). My wife rode "Sparkle.", a filly. After reading and signing waiver forms,, Vickie Pitts (owner) prepared my horse, Preston. I mounted the horse and Vickie gave me basic instuctions regarding the reins and the way to control of the horse. What Vickie did next was important as she checked and measured my stirrup. It was perfect as once when I was riding Preston dpwn an incline or slope my right foot came out of the stirrup but because Vickie adjusted my stirrups,
I could easily place my foot back onto the stirrup. Vickie also did the same adjustments for my wife. Our Trail Guide was a gal (I forgot
her name but the name Carol comes to mind-Anyway she had previously resided in Panama City Florida where my sister lives now) She was an excellent Trail Guide as she explained what to do when we were going up a slight hill or down a slope. She also gave colorful descriptions
regarding the landscape and wildlife. To me this one hour (and five minute) Tenderfoot "Trail" was really meant for more experienced riders but boy did I enjoy my ride, Preston has a tendency to bend his head to look for a snacK. He did this twice and our trail guide explained what to do and after his third try, Preston knew I was in control. In any event my wife and I (Clifford) really enjoyed the horses, the professional staff, and the Catalina State Park. I would recommend Pusch Ridge Stables and hopefully be back for another horseback ride.

We took the sunset ride with our 7 and 9 year old children. We had a great experience. Horses were well trained for people who don't ride horses. Very friendly staff at the stables! My seven year old daughter wanted a longer ride after we completed the 1 1/2 ride!

A friend of mine and I decided to try out different ranches, since I moved to Tucson last year. She is an equestrian, and I'm a vacation rider but raised with domestic and wild animals, sometimes by them. Since animals will feed off your emotions, the first impression was great driving into the Ranch. Two dogs met us wag tailing, the feed was green, the horses well kept and all had an impression of great management and people who care about their animals. The Lady of the Ranch, a pro in what she does got us situated, and her son Frank took us for the ride. It was a great laid back
nose-to-tail ride with an expert about horses and most other things. We both decided to come back. The evening ride before the heat sets in and lessons in the fall is on my schedule.
I have ridden horses in many countries, however, this is where I want to learn how to do it right!

Just been for a sunset ride. Nothing seems too much trouble for these very nice people they were not going out tonight but they laid on a special ride at very short notice. The horses are well behaved but not just a follow the leader and as a novice rider I felt safe and well looked after. Helmets are available and are your choice. Spectacular scenery the sunset ride is highly recommended, but the two hour ride also seems excellent value. Well worth the drive to get out in the desert with these nice people.

A colleague and I made same-day reservations for a sunset ride. Ashley was our guide and Preston and Smokey were our gallant companions. The scenery was wonderful and changes every 15 minutes or so. It was great just riding amongst the cactuses, desert plants and more importantly, with the beautiful mountains and sunset in the background. The bumpy ride added to the fun. And Ashley took great pictures for us both.
I would recommend this trip to anyone who wants to try something different and who wants to experience the beauty of AZ's Catalina State Park! =)

We decided to try this because of the good reviews here and we were not disappointed! My husband brought our 8 and 6 year old who had never ridden before and this was the high point of their trip to Tucson! The horses were gentle and the guide was very nice. They took the sunset ride and the scenery was beautiful.

We scheduled a 90 minute sunset ride at Pusch Ridge Stables this past week and had a wonderful time. This is a family-run business with friendly guides. I have little experience in riding & was at ease shortly into the ride. The horses were very calm & easy to work with. The trail was scenic--with perfect timing of riding on a ridge as the sun set--Stunning!
There was a family with young children on our ride as well--the kids did great with the horses the staff had picked out for them.
Overall, great experience!

The stable was recommended by our hotel. We're glad they did. Had a great time on the sunset ride. Jeanie was great setting us up and taking us out into Catalina State Park. The views were amazing with wildlife all over the place. The pictures just won't do the views any justice. Hope the memories last...

We selected the stable based on the proximity of where our hotel was located.
It was a typical trail horse ride. Each horse knew there position in line and would follow the horse in front religiously.
