There is often water in late winter, with several crossings, and much of it is at least a little shady. Very pleasant...

Don't look up when hiking here unless you're stopped. Lots of challenging maneuvers required over small streams. Worth the hike for sure.

This is a great walk, but the trail is not well maintained. You certainly need sticks if you're going very far up the trail (I'd say more than a mile or so) and be careful. Having said that, it's a beautiful saguaro forest, some great mountain and valley views, so worth the work.

We started at 7:30 a.m. and made our way through the canyon. A little chilly at first but the sun warmed us up once we started hiking up the mountain. We went probably 2.5 miles in and then turned back! It was beautiful. Moderately strenuous.

The trailhead starts off the Ventana resort parking lot. It starts as a narrow path on an easement between private lands and opens up to beautiful mountain vistas and hills full of sahuaro cactus. Crossing over rocky dry riverbeds (in season) and along gentle rises for the first mile, it's an easy trail. Then the rises become steep for more... More

We stayed at the Loews Ventana Resort. The trail head is right next to the hotel so it was very convenient. The trail is about 5 mils up to the top. There are a few rocky areas but it's not difficult. I used a walking stick but I'm older. My adult children were fine without a walking stick. We were... More

This is a good hiking trail for being in a canyon. It takes some time to get off the access right-of-way, but good views ensue. Not steep.

We stayed at Ventana Canyon Condo's so had gate access to the trail which cut about 1/2 mile off the length of the hike. We started at 630 am and the temperature was perfect, first half of the hike we were in the shade. For the most part the hike was pretty easy, a few spots you had to take... More

Great hike, views beautiful, parking safe and close to Ventana Canyon hotel specifically for the hikers. Climb a few low rocks and then it smooths out to nice trail. Had a drink in hotel after the hike. Fun J. Cook
