I picked up a rental car and left the airport in Tucson. The temps were in the upper 80's. Beautiful, sunny spring day. About an hour and a half later I was walking around on some path at the top of Mt Lemmon. It was...More

A gorgeous drive up into the mountains northeast of Tucson. We drove right up to the ski hill and back down in just over 2 hours. There are a lot of pull outs and stops to allow for pictures and enjoying the view.

I only drove a little more than half way to the top, but the curves weren't bad and the views were lovely.

Wow! We are so glad we explored this scenic drive. With lunch at Summerhaven, it made for a most enjoyable day. There are many viewpoints to check out as well as hiking opportunities.

Beat the heat, & take this drive! Plan to take a picnic too! There’s no food until you get to the top, about an hour’s drive out of Tucson on very curvy roads. If you have time, be sure to stop along the way. Check...More

This drive will take you through many diverse types of terrain - from desert floor with cactus, up through grassland, and finally into alpine trees. There was even snow though it was 90 in the desert!

I would say from about one hour after sunrise to about one hour before sunset local Tucson time. There is not a toll to travel the scenic route, just a lot of curves and beautiful vistas to look out over.

Windy Point about 1/2 way up. The are 4 campgrounds all with restrooms. Also lookouts near the top and Marshall Gulch. Probably 10 or more places.
