Drove up by car, yet saw many bikers and bicyclists making the ascent. Quite a few places to stop and see the amazing views, many with helpful signage. At the peak, saw the chair lift, although there wasn't any snow so no skiiers. Ate at...More

This drive is made much more interesting if one downloads the scientific Mt. Lemmon app. It offers an educational understanding of the different biomes encountered on the drive up. The road is a bit twisty but not a big deal to drive. Stop for fudge...More

Beautiful drive with lots of places to pull over. Snow at the top, when the temperature was 80 at the bottom.

Beautiful and relatively easy drive. Scenery is stunning. Happily there are not too many blind curves to deal with. There are many lovely pull out stops along the way. The road is in very good condition. Enjoy!

We had heard that the best pie in the US was offered at the top of this road so we headed up. It was great to see the topography and eco systems change from Desert to forest. Our guide mentioned that Disney sent a team...More

Enjoyed the drive up Mt Lemmon. Lots of scenic overlooks. Keep an eye out for cyclists as this is a popular ride. A little disappointed that final stretch to summit was closed. Not sure why. Felt badly for the ski operation at the top as...More

If you have the time this is a must see. It's amazing to drive from cactus and desert shrubs ascending slowly to ever changing landscapes and foliage ultimately you find yourself within pines and birch trees. Stop at the pull offs and take it all...More

The highway is vastly improved from the last time we did this over 25 years ago. The scenic stops are unparalleled and Summerhaven has a few interesting shops and eateries.

Yes, there is snow on top. The status of the Catalina Highway can change at any time. To get the most up-to-date information, call the Pima County Sheriff's Department road closure hotline at 520-547-7510.
