What can you say that's better than just experiencing the desert. Stop at a pull out and walk a short way (depending on time of year) into the desert. Stand next to a 150 y/o saguaro and contemplate what it takes for this majestic plant...More

Nice drive or walk. The views were awesome. I could not help but be amazed by what other nature can do in-spite of man. There was more green and color in general than you would expect. Oh there are picnic areas available also.

From Sweetwater Preserve thru the mountains to Robles Junction there are trails. Mostly this is a mountain biking area but hikers are also common. The roughest trail I know here is John Krein Trail not hard to access but very rocky on a mountain bike....More

We started our visit at the visitor's center, and the staff was very friendly and knowledgable about the park. We saw 3 coyotes, countless rabbits, and beautiful cacti. It takes under 2 hours to do a moderate hike and drive around the entire property.

If you love cactus like I do, this is your place. On the Way to Desert Museum. The Saguaros line up like the soldiers of the desert that they are. So beautiful and majestic. I just love going here.

We drove through the park on the way to the desert museum, then on the way back to town around the mountain. It's very beautiful, and the cacti and terrain form a nice landscape in just about every direction. We found ourselves stopping frequently in...More
