This street has declined with a lot of closures and less traffic resulting from all the expensive meters. Also many vagrants on street that ask for money and create lack of safety. Not much police presence. OK to go mid-day but not a place off hours.

Collage kids rule here-but many older folks & tourists come to eat & shop here as well.Plenty to do in this area. Parking not so great-but parking is recommended on the few blocks toward the schools & Not on Thayer itself & walking to the shopping areas. Ethnic Stores,Gift Shops, 1 (Upper Class Only Labels)Consignment Shop, Upscale Stores, Starbucks, AuBonPain,... More

Great spots for food and shopping, a few fun bars and pubs. We come here with our daughter (RWU), and it's a hoot seeing the kids from RISD and Brown (not hard to tell them apart). On a sunny spring or fall day, the atmosphere is terrific. It will take years off of your life (at least for a couple... More

Thayer street is a great place to check out. The have so many interesting stores and shops. The people you meet there can be very interesting too. Thayer St is a mix of chains like CVS, Starbucks, Chipotle and Urban Outfitters, a Post office, hair salon/barbershop and a few stores with character. There are also restaurants and bars, as well as the Brown bookstore. Some fast food burrito, pizza, and bagel shops provide good snack options. The CVS has no pharmacy - no way to get prescriptions, which... More

I've been to some university towns, and Thayer Street makes Providence different than many others. It's located in the heart of East Side of Providence, along the intersection of Brown University campus and residential districts. It offers variety of shops, boutiques, restaurants, cafes and a beautiful movie theater. It is lively until late hours. A rarity among most of towns... More

You don't have to be a college student to enjoy Thayer Street. The Brown bookstore is always fun to browse, but there are lots of stores to check out. Both fast food and sit down bars and restaurants abound. You want it, you can find it on Thayer Street!

Thayer Street is a really cool street to walk along, mostly, I think, at night. There are tons of cool shops to go in and browse, lots of eateries and just lots of people having good fun. Probably good all year round.
