About
Open year round. Tours are by appointment only. $20 per adult, $10 per child (age 6-10). The Enos Mills Cabin is the original homestead cabin of Enos A. Mills, generally considered the "Father of Rocky Mountain National Park". As well as an author, guide, photographer, and innkeeper, he was instrumental in the creation of the field of Interpretation in the National Park Service. Tours are private and guided, and feature photographs, documents and other exhibits pertaining to Mills' life and work in Colorado. Placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, it is privately owned and operated by two decendants, Elizabeth and Eryn Mills. The museum also has items for sale, including Mills' books. Cash or check is preferred, but credit cards are also accepted via PayPal either through the website or in person. The trail to the museum is not handicapped accessible and there are no public restrooms. Pets may remain in the vehicle.

We loved the Enos Mills cabin museum, filled with photos, artifacts, books and more. Eyrn, the grand-daughter of Enos Mills, is an energetic guide, eager to share her grand-father's experiences as a promoter of national parks across the United States in the early 20th century.
The area surrounding the cabin is gorgeous! I'd highly recommend a visit!

My husband and I toured the Enos Mills cabin and property with his great-grandaughter Eryn as our guide. A fascinating 2 hours... Eryn offered numerous anecdotes about the homestead and surrounding area, information that you won't find in books. The location and view across the valley toward Longs Peak is spectacular. A special opportunity to learn about Enos Mills and the area's history from a delightful family member. Highly recommend.

Privately owned and operated by Enos' descendants, Elizabeth and Eryn Mills, which is pretty cool. This place is open year-round and by appointment, especially if you'd like to tour inside the cabin. The grounds are open without an appointment but then you'd miss out on the stories and amazing history about Enos. He was an author, photographer, nature guide, inn keeper, college lecturer, and an adventurer. We didn't know anything about Mr. Mills before our visit but now we've told friends visiting Colorado about this place. Historic and enriching.

We had an awesome experience talking with the great granddaughter of the legendary Enos Mills, writer, naturalist, and father of Rocky Mountain National Park. She was friendly and provided the inside scoop on this fascinating man. If you are unfamiliar with Enos Mills and are visiting The Rockies, you shouldn't be! Look him up and visit this museum!!

What an incredibly awesome place to spend an afternoon. When Enos' daughter was still alive, she would greet the visitors, tell of the history, invite you to the original log cabin, have her picture taken with you and would love to sit and talk ~ once in a lifetime experience for me as I visited with my family when Edna was still living and yes, we did have our pictures taken with her.

Very interesting and informative about the Enos Mills family and the beginning of RMNP. I think it needs to be publicized a bit more but perhaps the family likes it the way it is.

Really enjoyed the tour, Eryn Mills is very knowledgeable about Enos, her great grandfather, and she was able to schedule us in at the last minute. I spent many weeks in RMNP and the Tahosa Valley above Estes when I was growing up and learning about its history and the man who is responsible for the creation of the park was one of the best parts of our recent trip.

Who knew? Some of the history is available through research, but nothing brings it to reality like visiting the real artifacts. This stop is a must.

The original homestead cabin built by Enos Mills, the father of Rocky Mountain National Park, is a must see! However, be sure to check online or call ahead to make sure that it is open! Breathtaking views of Longs Peak and Mount Meeker.

If you want to immerse yourself in the history of the Rocky Mountain National Park, you have to put this tiny cabin on your list. Enos Mills is a giant in Colorado beginnings and visiting his original little home will make you feel a part of his era.
