Its a nice drive to the painted Church. You can sometimes get mangoes and other fruit from the side of the streets on the road to it. We did not see many people around and they had a honor system fruit stand up front.

Very pretty, easy to wander round, with frescos varying from very good to almost gone - a hazard of the climate. It felt small and friendly. The donation boxes were absolutely stuffed full and it was hard to leave a donation (I was worried it...More

This is quick stop. Take a few pictures, enjoy the scenery and continue on with your sites. This was a perfect stop prior to arriving at the National Park/two step destination.

The painted part of the church is on the inside. Beautiful view, and a look into the history of the island. The cemetery is also interesting in front of the church.

This is worth a stop if you have anyone that is interested in visiting churches. We went here for my parents and they thought it was super cool because they are curious about the local history. Inside is beautiful and if you are nearby, I'd...More

A historical gem, this little church is worth the visit, if nothing else than to get a perspective of Hawaii from days gone by. An active parish church nestled on a hillside on the southwest side of Hawaii, it is off the beaten path and...More

We did not have high expectations for this stop, but we were pleasantly surprised. The paintings inside the church are quite good! A docent gave us some history of the place. Quite a nice spot, even with two tour buses in.

Otherwise overlooked if you were to blink your eyes while you travel on Hwy 11, you should fine tune your GPS coordinates to ensure a stop. The church overlooks what is an inspiring view (recipe for some much needed meditation) of Kealakekua Bay to the...More

Its a 15 minute stop to visit the beautiful church on the way between things to see on the coast. Beautifully hand painted and a free attraction. Would recommend a quick stop for even the non-religious.

Beautiful tribute to St Benedict, this quaint little Catholic church is painted in beautiful island style artwork and also has a statue of Father Damien and the vision of St. Bernadette. Definitely worth going to see.
