This is a lovely house. It is owned by the city of Petersburg. There is limited funding for this wonderful historical site so its hours are also limited. Volunteers are keeping it open and we certainly thank them for their dedication. Be sure to check...More

This antebellum mansion has a nice little museum in the basement. Knowledgable docents give tours on the floors above, too. The museum benefited from furnishings used as props when the building was used a set for the PBS series "Mercy Street". I haven't visited since...More

Worth the time to tour...excellent with the right tour guide! If you are interested in the Civil War, this is a great place to visit to see how the rich were different.

As some have already stated, this home seems to be closed permanently. However, when it was "open," each time I tried to see the mansion it was closed. From the outside it was obvious that there was little or no money going into upkeep that...More

So wanted to see this! But we were in Petersburg in June 2017 and because the city is in a financial crisis, the tourism office is closed. Some attractions (Blandford Church) are being staffed by volunteers but so far this one is not.
