There is much to see and to explore intros park. You can drive through but should stop at various locations to see the sites of battles and the Crater. Very interesting historic site.

One of the things that made this site interesting is that it focused on a number of actions by the North & South back during the war. The whole region, the siege of Petersburg, Grants Campaign, the railroads and stops made it seem quite real...More

Very interesting story. Crater is kind of filled in so not that impressive anymore. Enjoyable to do one time but probably wouldn't go back.

We had a brilliant couple of hours here. The visitor centre has an excellent film which explains the sequence of events and how the final stages of the war unfolded. There are some interesting artefacts and a fascinating day by day record of the siege...More

First expect to spend 2-3 hours here if you plan on wanting to see everything. The tour starts off at the visitor center, and I recommend checking out the film (20 mins) before you start your walking tour of the grounds. There are eight key...More

I found "The Crater", the most interesting part of the park. This park is very large and should be toured in you car.

Very worth the drive! You could spend a lot of time here touring around or even excel owing by running the trails through all the battlefields. Lots of history to be seen, and you don't need to be unused by 5. The park is open...More

We took the driving tour where we followed a park ranger who knew her stuff and wanted to share her knowledge at every stop. It is worth the trip to hear the history of the Crater. A lesson we should all learn.
