This battlefield was well laid out and combined driving with several stopping points, some requiring walking, but the walks were easy. The earthworks were amazing and the map supplied additional info on each stop. Entrance to the park was free. A pleasant way to spend...More

A bit disappointed about the closing, but the driving tour was good. Check out the Dictator and the Crater while there.

We visited the battlefield which was the scene of the longest military event of the Civil War. I learned a lot of facts that day and the sheer length of the trenches was almost unbelievable. We did the driving tour but stopped at multiple identified...More

Excellent assistance from Park Rangers. Once you visit the visitor center and the first station, you will drive through the battlefield, as each station is quite far apart. We rushed through so can be done in three hours, but would have preferred spending an entire...More

I took our homeschooling group to see this park when we were studying the Civil War. Be sure to check out the Crater and the tunnel that was dug by Union forces. There is also a four-mile driving tour with eight wayside exhibits.

We had a great time hiking! The trails were short which was great for our three year old! Really nice outing for the area.

Great review of the Civil War and decisive battles fought here. Large state park, requires driving from point to point. A little confusing to find your way around, but worth the effort. Free.

While this is a battlefield tour you probably need to drive or bike, it is well worth the time and effort to visit. The Visitors' Center is not spectacular, but the introductory video is worth a stop. The video is a fantastic overview of what...More

Enjoyed, gives you a real respect for southern living! Plus some incite on what the war was really about!

I'm not sure, however , I was there a couple of weeks ago and we virtually had the place to ourselves on a Sunday. Apparently this is their off season. No actors but plenty to do. There was also scheduled tours. Had we opted... More
