The museum and the movie were good. The driving tour was okay. There were a lot of earth works and of course the crater is here.

So I've lived here for a while and can get complacent with the numerous Civil War Battlefields. Not this one. I could walk the trails daily and never get tired of the "Crater" Its worth a trip just to see the Dictator. Museum staff are...More

The museum is a must see and I highly recommend watching the movie as it explains the siege of Petersburg very well. The ranger is very informative and there’s plenty of parking. Plan to stroll outside to check out the Dictator and embattlements. Drive through...More

This was a great park and glad we walked to The Crater! Beautiful area for a drive through as well. We enjoy parks where you can see the locals using the grounds to hike, walk or run!

Petersburg has such a wealth of history and this site doesnt disappoint. It's big; great for walking, hiking, or driving through. Particularly liked walking around the crater. There is no fee for visiting which was a bonus.

Introductory film is very good for someone not know much Civil War history. Must go see The Crater and its corresponding tunnel entrance.

You should give yourself at least 4 to 5 hours to be able to get a good view through the park. I would try to be out of the park by 5 pm.
