We wanted to see the Rio Grande River and were directed to this park. Huge disappointment. It would likely have been a great view except for the obnoxious border fence that destroyed any potential view of the river or anything else. 60 mile trip to see the river was a complete waste of time and money.

We were looking for a place to see the Rio Grande River. We talked to a Border Patrol Agent who headed us towards Alice Wilson Hope Park. It is a neat little city park that not only is the site of the start of the Chisholm Trail, but also has a very nice deck overlooking the Rio Grande River. You see the river while looking through the very high border fence. The top section of the fence is covered with a screen of some kind, and in addition there is a coil of razor sharp wire. It is interesting to look across the river at the Mexican Border entrance facility. Don't need a wall here: One already exists.
