Description:

Discover the amazing underwater world of the Texas State Aquarium!...

Discover the amazing underwater world of the Texas State Aquarium! Thousands of animals representing over 320 different species are ready to enchant, entertain, and inspire you. Corpus Christi's most popular cultural attraction has welcomed over 12 million visitors since its grand opening in July 1990. Conveniently located on North Beach, the Texas State Aquarium is just minutes from Corpus Christi's downtown district, convention center complex, and museums. The Texas State Aquarium Association is a not-for-profit, educational institution that does not receive any city, state, or federal funding for its operations. Every visit to the Texas State Aquarium is a new and exciting discovery of animals that remind us all of our responsibility to those whose world we share. The Aquarium's Second Chances Wildlife Rehabilitation Program is federally permitted and operates under rigorous standards established by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). Each year, thousands of protected, endangered or threatened species along the Texas coast become ill or injured. Most are brought to our facility with problems caused directly or indirectly by humans. The goal of the Texas State Aquarium's Second Chances Program is to rehabilitate, and whenever possible, return the animals to their natural environment. The Aquarium is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and is a member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums. The Aquarium's mission is to engage people with animals, inspire appreciation for our seas, and support wildlife conservation.

We visited with tweens in the summer. For Texas it's a nice aquarium. Our family is a bit spoiled as we've visited some of the best aquariums in the US. We've been to the National Aquarium in Baltimore, Long Beach in California, Georgia Aquarium and most recently the Monterey Bay Aquarium. It is not in their league. That being said... More

My retired parents and I recently spent a few hours at the Texas State Aquarium in Corpus Christie. We were lucky that it was a pretty nice day. It was windy, but how the outside areas of the aquarium are situated, we were sheltered from the wind (blowing toward the bay). As we didn't have any children with us, a... More

Savings sharks exhibit is amazing. Sea turtles, Dolphins, too much to list. My little 2.5 year old girl and I went on a Tuesday and stayed all day. Had the entire dolphin viewing room to ourselves. Unreal experience. Must go during off season it was perfect!! You can see the USS Lexington from the aquarium grounds. The whole area is... More

We toured the aquarium on Feb. 3. We purchased our tickets online and received a discount. This was the best aquarium we have ever been too, with many staff around the exhibits to answer questions. We went to three shows/programs - sting rays, dolphins and birds. The programs/shows were shorter than most places we have been to, but liked it... More

Be sure to take advantage of the free shows offered. They usually are in the morning and then repeat again on afternoon. Not as many fish tanks as a lot of aquariums, but their outside displays were wonderful with the ocean as the backdrop. Beautiful view of the USS Lexington next door.
