Discover the amazing underwater world of the Texas State Aquarium!...

Discover the amazing underwater world of the Texas State Aquarium! Thousands of animals representing over 320 different species are ready to enchant, entertain, and inspire you. Corpus Christi's most popular cultural attraction has welcomed over 12 million visitors since its grand opening in July 1990. Conveniently located on North Beach, the Texas State Aquarium is just minutes from Corpus Christi's downtown district, convention center complex, and museums. The Texas State Aquarium Association is a not-for-profit, educational institution that does not receive any city, state, or federal funding for its operations. Every visit to the Texas State Aquarium is a new and exciting discovery of animals that remind us all of our responsibility to those whose world we share. The Aquarium's Second Chances Wildlife Rehabilitation Program is federally permitted and operates under rigorous standards established by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). Each year, thousands of protected, endangered or threatened species along the Texas coast become ill or injured. Most are brought to our facility with problems caused directly or indirectly by humans. The goal of the Texas State Aquarium's Second Chances Program is to rehabilitate, and whenever possible, return the animals to their natural environment. The Aquarium is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and is a member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums. The Aquarium's mission is to engage people with animals, inspire appreciation for our seas, and support wildlife conservation.

We visited this aquarium on a Friday and it was busy. It provided all visitors with several exhibit areas which were complete with staff to answer questions and provide very nice programs. They had programs scheduled that were very well attended and enjoyed. Thank You for a great place to visit!

Started out poorly when we walked up the entrance ramp and were told we had to walk back down to buy tickets - not a fun thing for senior citizens. Employees we talked to said they had heard this many times, but apparently the complaint falls on managements deaf ears. Big expansion under way, but the old dispays are simple... More

This is a nice lottle aquarium with the essentials of what a visitor might expect in an aquarium with hands on opportunities galore. The outdoor exhibits also include a few surprises that I have never seen in the orevious 2dozen or so aquariums I have visited on three continents...I will keep the surprises, surprises. Great place to visit if you... More

There were some interesting displays and good tanks. And we learned about the Gulf. We're spoiled by the Monterey Bay Aquarium near where we live. And don't we don't like to see dolphins in captivity.

Thank you for your visit, and we're glad to see you enjoyed our exhibits and learning about the Gulf of Mexico and its fascinating ocean life. On May 13, we will also be opening Caribbean Journey, which will more than double the Aquarium's size and will feature encounters with flamingos, bats, sharks, and other exotic species. We really appreciate that... More

For a "State" aquarium I was disappointed in the size of the place. Jenks, Oklahoma had a bigger and better aquarium. The place is really comparable to the aquarium in Grapevine, TX. If you are looking for a place to spend under an hour, then this could be a quick little place to visit.

I can't say enough about how wonderful this place is. All the employees are knowledgeable, helpful and happy to be there! Plan on arriving with enough time to attend the shows! The dolphin, wildlife and scuba shows were among our favorites. Buy your tickets online for discounts.

This aquarium was fun and had a lot to see. The otters, sea turtles, and dolphins were my favorite part! Only part I didn't like was that it was watching the dolphin show and getting splashed when we weren't in the splash zone. Wait until they open their expansion. It was small but their addition will definitely make it worth... More

This was a great place to bring my 3 year old nephew. He really loved the sea life and the dolphin show. I really enjoyed walking around with him and that he had so much fun. The one thing I noticed was the tanks seemed a little sparse for some of the animals, and the water seemed dirty. Maybe work... More

OK aquarium - seems like the dolphins are the biggest hit - started filling up 1 hour before show time... Other areas are good, but we have been to better aquariums. When they finish the new addition, this will be a great place to visit.
